The Jaguars and Rotten Injury Luck
The poor Jaguars. What are the chances that a first round pick hurts his knee right after the draft two years in a row? In case you missed it, 5th overall pick Jalen Ramsey (considered by many to be possibly the most talented player in the draft) tore his meniscus. The Jags are waiting on a second opinion, but he could miss anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months depending on how severe it is. That is some seriously bad luck. This comes one year after their 2015 first round pick Dante Fowler Jr. tore his ACL and missed his rookie season. I mean daymn, that is such bad luck.
The Jags had one hell of an off-season and have actually picked up a bit of a bandwagon. I was personally on it, although I’ve been on it for a while. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Jags for some reason. Their fans seem really fun and willing to laugh at themselves. Their owner is cool, they have pools in their stadium and they had Curtis Dvorak, the former best mascot ever. Also Bort. Bort owns. Bort Bort Bort. Jags fans seem to like me too, at least 3 things I’ve made are flair options in the Jags subreddit. Jags fans are cool.
But I digress. The Jags have spent several years trying to handle terrible rosters and finally seemed primed to break out. Look at these acquisitions from this offseason:
Prince Amukamara
Chris Ivory
Malik Jackson
Tashaun Gipson
Jalen Ramsey (drafted)
Myles jack (drafted)
Dante Fowler Jr (finally)
Their offense put it together last season. Bort and the Robinsons lit it up. They are in an extremely weak division. This is the Jaguars time. This is the year Gus Bradley can finally prove he was worth the hire. This is the year the Jags can claw themselves back to relevancy. This year, the Jags can stand on top the
SNAP
nevermind
In that divison, even with the injury issues, Jacksonville can still compete and have a good shot at a divison title with an 8-8 or 7-9 record, but this is still Houston’s division as they shall forever go 9-7 like Dallas went 8-8 for 4 straight years. Indy has Andrew Luck (who is fantastic), but nothing else, like the Marino Dolphins in the late ’80s, so they’ll endup like 7-9 or 6-10. Tennessee is too young to do any better than 5 wins like J’ville last year, but they’ll probably end up 3-13 again. I’d love to hear what the rest of y’all think.
There really isn’t anything else to add. The AFC South is awful.
The Curse of Jaxson de Ville?
Blasphemy. Jaxson de Ville is a blessing, not a curse. There were years when Jaxson was the only thing worth watching on Sunday in Jacksonville. He is the greatest mascot in the history of the universe and realms unknown now and forevermore throughout all time.
They’ll still win the AFC South at 9-7
Not necessarily. I expect the colts to be on the rebound. The Titans are getting better, and if Brock is any good, Hopkins will light it up & Watt and the defense can do the rest. The jags can make it, but the AFC south is going to be the most fought over division this season.
Sorry 10-6
They’ll be competitive, but I don’t see them winning the division this year. Texans improved their offense about as much as the Jags improved their defense, and the Colts held their own without Andrew Luck.
Why do they keep signing fragile ass college kids
I’ll take the out for a rookie season fragile one’s over the play for 1 season then abruptly retired (banned) pot smoking ones (R. Jay Soward & Justin Blackmon).
I think you mean the allen brothers, not the robinsons.
Well there’s Allen and Shoelace Robinson. But yea, there is another Allen as well, Hurns
At least they have Amukamara to take Ramsey’s place and allow 30+ yard passing plays.
They also have a gunslinging QB who threw the most picks in the league last year. As much as we all want them to do well next season, it’s just not going to happen. Not with a healthy Luck rejoining the Colts.
Pssst…it’s the allens not the robinsons(or you mean allen robinson and denard robinson, but i don’t think so)
How come only Dante Fowler Jr is wearing his Jags hat?
Shad Khan thought the hat caused Fowler to break his leg? I have no idea

Can I get this in Chargers? I’ma need it.
At a certain point something is wrong with the training staff/workout regimen with all these knee injuries.
WHAT!? I find this out here? I even follow Jalen and talk with him on twitter (mostly about Christian stuff though). I feel bad for him personally because he is looking forward so much to getting on the field in black & teal. Now that may be a longer wait.
As for the Jags, they are becoming stacked with talent. Everyone will realize that soon. I don’t see losing the services of one rookie defensive back making a huge difference to the outcome of the season. Jags still win the division and hopefully Jalen will be well healed and playing several weeks before the playoffs.
I was slightly expecting this from Myles Jack (knock on formica) but not Jalen Ramsey.
Also, thanks for the Jags love Dave. It seems as though most media outlets overlook or straight out disrespect J-ville with their northeastern bias but here’s Dave a NY Giants fan doing right by the little guy.
Travis Etienne out for the season after preseason game 2. 🙁
