However you feel about the Redskins name, there is one certainty. The comments on those articles will be awful.
Whenever a Redskins name story comes out I avoid major sports sites like the plague, because even a glimpse into the abyss is enough to irreparably damage your soul.
I just saw a post that the US Patent Office removed the trademark registrations for the Redskins, saying they can’t be ™ed under federal law. Is that for real?
Yes and no. Same thing happened I’m the late 90s and got overturned. It’s big news, but it’s not concrete.
Bah, meant to say in, not I’m. That’s what I get for typing on my phone.
figures, the box gets opened by Nazis
Godwin’s Law achieved before it even begins.
Sexy Rexy is a Nazi? Mind. Blown.

“What does the FOX say?” (just a grumbly old guy’s voice repeating “Obama!” over and over again)
I thought for sure you were going to do a comic renaming them the REXins.
Bummed: no play for the PETA-proferred redskin potato logo? There’s got to be a solid redskin potato joke out there somewhere. (“The Redskins got *mashed* last night by the Giants…”)
I like when teams change their names, but I’m so sick of hearing about the Redskins. Especially all the hatred towards Dan Snyder. I’ve heard more hateful comments regarding Dan Snyder than I’ve ever heard about Native Americans
Technically every time you hear the name “Redskins” you’re hearing a hateful comment about Native Americans, so probably not.
WAIT SHIT I’VE STARTED SOMETHING TERRIBLE ABORT ABORT
ITS TOO LATE! THE DOCTOR IS IN
You used the word “redskins” but you probably meant no hatred, so you and I both know that’s just silly to assume the name intends hatred simply by its mention.
I can certainly understand how Redskins can be interpreted as racist, but it seems that Native Americans are the only people these days who associate the word as a racist term. Most people these days tend to think of the football team when the hear the word Redskins.
DAMMIT I JUST STARTED A MASSIVE DEBATE
You could replace “redskin” in that post with pretty much any slur
Why not just keep the theme going and rename themselves the Juandices and photoshop the Native American’s head yellow.
dey shoild b called da washing dc pork rinds lol
Is that Nazi on the left Peyton?
Nah, if it was Peyton his hat would be in the above panel.

Me and my fellow potatos take great offense at Mr. Snyder for calling us that diabolical slur.

Per this article, 70% of American Indians do not find the term “Redskins” disparaging.
If 70% of Congress agreed on something, it’s almost enough for a Constitutional amendment. What this tells me is that it’s not an issue for the vast majority of people, and that what’s really going on here is White Man’s Burden, which is pretty much the worst reason to ever follow along on a plan. Yeah, there’s some extremely vocal folks going on about it, but they clearly do not represent the majority of American Indians, let alone humanity as a whole.
Let’s just drop the issue and stop letting political correctness deprive us of historical perspective or the opportunity to take something potentially controversial, and use it to draw attention to actual needs and injustices facing our indigenous communities– rampant poverty, poor education, extreme addiction problems, disparity of wealth with mostly-white-but-I-totally-had-a-great-great-great-great-great-grandmother-who-was-Cherokee folks siphoning off the bulk of tribal wealth. Things that, I’m pretty sure, more American Indians not only care about, but are directly influenced by.
I know I’ve gone on at length about this before, but the more research I see done on it, the more White People seem to be making a bigger deal than– dare I say it? Redskins.
Nice artwork on this one!
The raiders should get rid of Carr and the person who decided to keep him in the game. Mariota is a game changer. Why sigh him and not play him.
