It’s the worst part of being a die hard fan.
We wait months for this. Months of terrible player rankings, garbage news stories on slow days, constant back and forth speculation on which teams are ready, player arrests, power rankings, holdouts, tales of training camp, sadness, loneliness, despair. We trudge through. And then, the Hall of Fame game. Quite possibly the worst excuse for a football game since the pro bowl.
and yet we all tune in. We all start to watch it. We all sit there and hope that maybe, just maybe, this year it might be interesting. Many of us perish before the 2nd quarter even hits. We turn away, we find productive things to do, this game is not worth our time.
One week left, till real preseason. Maybe that will be better.
It won’t.
Went to the Texans-Vikings preseason game last year where the fan fell to his death from the escalator. Later that night a guy at the bar said what we were all secretly thinking, “Well, I’ll be, something exciting FINALLY happened at a preseason game.” *cringe*
When the hell does mowing the lawn take 3 hours…
I only watch N. O. Saints preseason games. Other teams… don’t care until the games mean something.
Watching the Hall of Fame game is like a sadistic ritual we all undertake to usher in the new football season. We know it’s going to be boring. We know it’s going to be three hours we’ll never get back that we waste watching what are essentially NFL tryouts. But we do it anyway because FOOTBALL! FOOTBALL’S BACK! FOOTBALL! Even crappy football is still football.
this nigga knows what’s up

I was mad too that for some reason, TWC doesn’t carry NBC in my town and they weren’t streaming it. Desperate men do desperate things, I suppose
