Scott Tolzien Sucks A Lot
I love week 1. It’s always full of crazy nonsense that we can’t really parse yet because we still have no idea what teams are actually good or bad and what was a fluke. But even if the Bengals, Texans, and Colts are actually bad or just had bad days, it was a glorious day for terrible quarterbacking.
Andy Dalton was straight trash and might have actually been worse than Tolzien. But Tolzien threw 2 pick sixes (including one on his first pass) and got benched. Tom Savage, not to be outdone, also sucked and was benched. Twas glorious. I didn’t watch the Jets/Bills game, how did that disaster for first place look? Mike Glennon…actually wasn’t the worst.
The Colts are likely the worst off here. The Texans defense didn’t play well but I think they’ll still end up top 10. The Bengals offense is bad, but Dalton has shown he can be good with proper protection and better coaching. The Colts might not get Luck back for a while but even if they do…what else do they have? TY Hilton and….uh…the Corpse of Frank Gore I guess. Chuck Pagano is a joke and can’t even remember what team kicked his ass 20 minutes later. Luck, when he comes back, will probably have no protection, 1 weapon, and no defense to support him. The Colts lucked (heh) into one of the best QB prospects ever after a single bad year and have completely squandered him. Luck will have a mediocre, forgettable career because he’s the only real player of note on a shit team. What a waste.
Also: good for the Rams, looking like a real NFL team with a real coach. Goff was quite good.
Who do you think was the worst QB on Sunday?
Tom Savage because he has failed to live up to his name. Plus he took 7 sacks in a half. That’s pretty fucking bad, plus losing to the jaguars of all teams is inexcusable.
Nah, he’s good. He stole the Declaration of Independence. I’d like to see you that.
Tolzien was very bad, but Colts fans should be happy that Luck did not have to play behind that shitty o-line.
I mean…he will when he comes back though
I don’t know – they may want to save him for the second half of his career and have him sit out 2017.
The Colts should tank and to pull an RG3 for whomever doesn’t get into the top 3 of Rosen, Allen, and suck for sam
No he wont. Kelly will be back and Luck takes less time to throw than Tolzein. The O-line is the least of our worries. The Oline looked like shit because the guy under center was shit.
Luck is well known for his lightning-fast processing through his options and getting rid of the football before getting sacked.
I mean, not really. He’s just more mobile, which gives him more time. He actually takes a little while to throw the ball, but its harder to get to him because he’s a slippery boy
Obviously he is slippery and the o-line is great. That’s why he’s constantly getting sacked and injured. It’s also a key aspect of the Colts success the past two years. Oh, wait…maybe not so much.
>Obviously he is slippery and the o-line is great. That’s why he’s constantly getting sacked and injured.
Except actually he got sacked very rarely in the second half of last season, which would make sense for a newly formed O-line.
He had literally one injury-riddled season back in 2015, which you plebians refuse to get over because it requires that you actually recognize a team doesn’t have to be the fucking Patriots in order to have decent organization.
He missed ONE game last year with a concussion. This year he’s only missing games to fix a shoulder injury that happened in the same 2015 season.
But no, he’s injury prone because you’re a koolaid drinking fuckass who doesn’t know jack shit about the game.
End the burden you put on the world
I guess getting sacked four times in that final game of 2016 versus the Mighty Jaguars is what Indy considers an upward trend for the o-line. You guys make a lot of excuses.
“I looked at one game and ignored all the others”
End it all please
Nice midwestern dickhead, you are. Asking one of God’s Children to kill himself because he pokes fun of your foolish fandom. I’m sure your pastor would approve, since we’re speaking about the Colts.
I’m not midwestern or religious.
Take bleach shots.
Re: Bills/Jets
Tyrod was ok: ~225 yards, 2 TD, 1INT
McCown was bad, but not Tolzien bad: 187 yards on 40 attempts, two picks.
I know it was against the Jets, but the Bills actually looked ok. Better than the Colts and Texans anyway. Arguably better than the Saints last night.
I have no idea why Pagano wasn’t fired at the end of last season
I feel like everyone deserves a six-game mulligan when they’ve been burdened by working with Ryan Grigson.
The Colts should have petitioned the league to vacate opponents victories and grant Mulligans.
which offensive line was the worst – texans, giants, or seahawks?
Hard to say anything but the Seahawks. The Texans and Giants have parts of their line that are good (The Giants for example have a decent young interior) but have really bad tackles or something. The Seahawks are at another level. If the Hawks had anyone but Russ behind that line they would be a 6-10 team at best even with that defense.
Even Rodgers?
Rodgers is overrated.
I love Rodgers but he doesn’t have the speed to completely flee like Wilson does
When I watched Super Bowl 48, and saw Denver’s anemic pass rush, my first thought was “Wow, that’s what Wilson looks like when he’s not running for his life.”
And Seattle’s O-line has consistently traded out experienced but underperforming vets from pro-style offenses for Athletic Freaks Who Have To Be Taught The Position. Sometimes, they learn it. See J.R. Sweezy. I was hoping that George Fant would improve to “tolerable left tackle” this year, but then his leg got mangled.
None of the above. The Bengals Oline was the worst. While the red rocket isn’t the worst QB of the bunch, his protection was.
Ever hear about the one who smelled it?
Dave, come now, I firmly believe that the most notable thing from football was Rex Ryan’s hilarious and glorious broadcasting debut. In a year he may have John Gruden surpassed as the best, or dare I say it… Both of them in the same booth.
That would be the best pairing ever. Just straight hype for 60 minutes.
I got to see the Dalton game live. Holy shit. His second pick was the worst thing I’ve ever seen. He just lobbed it into triple coverage. Some of the others I could look at and at least be like “that was a questionable decision compounded by not having the arm talent to make that throw.” That pick, was just holy shit. How do you make that throw when you’re only down 3-0 in the other teams red zone.
And then his throwing fumble was atrocious too. The Ravens just gifted you the ball, at least get a damn field goal out of it.
Marlon Mack looks good for indy (even if he did fumble)
& he’s from USF + he still has all 10 fingers (sorry, not sorry)
Dr. Dalton looking like Mr. Andy for worst week 1 qb.
1st Half Cam was terrible.
2nd Half Cam was a glorious god
In my mind, it has to be Dalton. Tolzien wasn’t expected to be good. I think sucking mildly was his ceiling. Tom Savage was never Houston’s choice for starter. He was just what they had left from last year. Starting a rookie over him now would be almost giving up on being a top contender this year. Dalton, he gets paid big money to make a big difference. And he certainly did that this week. Just not in a good way. We’ve seen him play well. But unless someone convinced him he was secretly a Raven this week, he has to be WQBotW. Maybe this should become a weekly discussion…
I’m just here to troll so I’ll go with Eli Manning’s terrible performance.
I’m just happy Kizer looks like the real deal. Now that he’s stopped locking onto his receivers, he just needs to be more consistent about dumping it off or throwing it away. And sliding, although the Steelers seemed determined to discourage him from ever sliding again Sunday.
Andrew Luck will rise from the dead just to die immediately when the Offensive Line gets run over.
The Colts have an offensive line? I thought it was just some fat guys from the 15th row
That which is dead may never die
Alright Dave, you’re actually full of shit about the Colts on this one. We don’t have a shit defense. We have an INJURED defense. Our secondary is playing two backups right now because our starting safety and cb are out with injury. Our run defense was actually great and our Oline is, again, injured.
You watched the game but paid no attention to what players were ACTUALLY playing. If you had actually payed attention, you would have noticed that “no protection” is mostly because our starting center (who has allowed zero sacks in his career) is out with an injury.
you’re making us look like a dumpsterfire when in reality we’re just an infirmary.
Do your damn research also I hope the giants go 0-16
Oh look a crying colts fan. GFY
Dude, you’re embarrassing. God I hope you’re like 14 and not in your 20s. Please give me the small hope that you’re just some edgy little twat and not a full grown man.
He’s a moderator on Stampede Blue.
Lmao they would
Well fuck you too I guess.
There’s a couple things wrong here:
1. The Colts defense isn’t some barren wasteland of wrecked dreams and poverty. It’s a young defense with half of the starters injured and the other half entirely new.
2. When your offense is terrible, your defense has to play for longer. This is basic football. If you actually watched the game, you’d see that the Colts defense didn’t under-perform, they just lacked the stamina to deal with Scott fucking Tolzein and Chuck Pagano’s stupidity.
3. The Colts o-line isn’t bad at all. They’re missing their center and their QB doesn’t know how to play football. It’s hard to keep defenders back when your QB decides to hold on to the ball for thirty years.
4. TY Hilton is not the only weapon on the Colts offense. We also have Donte Moncrief, Chester Rogers and Jack Doyle. All are perfectly serviceable weapons. At this point, you’re just talking shit.
5. “Luck will have a mediocre, forgettable career because he’s the only real player of note on a shit team.”
Thanks. It’s either that or “Andrew Luck is overrated hurrr”. Can’t avoid the ignorance on either side.
So if the Colts are supposedly this good, they should be able to make the playoffs with Luck once he comes back right? Can’t wait to hear the excuses from the Indy fans when they don’t even win 8 games.
We’re gonna go 7-9, not 2-14. Stop acting like we’re the fucking Browns. Our entire defense is new and everyone is injured. What kind of “excuses” do you want? Literally none of us expect to actually make they playoffs, we just trust Ballard will actually build a reputable team. As it stands we already have like 50 million for next year’s offseason.
See the thing is, you dont actually know what you’re talking about. You’re just a sad dude who finds pleasure in shitting on an organization clearly in the middle of a rebuild. How pathetic must it be that you feel the need to have such anger.
“Stop acting like we’re the fucking Browns,” he says.
Next paragraph: “You’re just a sad dude who finds pleasure in shitting on an organization clearly in the middle of a rebuild.”
The ironing is delicious.
That rebuild is in year five.
>That rebuild is in year five.
We were 11-5 for three years you goddamn retard.
We go 8-8 twice and suddenly we’re the fucking Bengals from the 90s
Seriously, lick an outlet.
I’m just glad we’re having a “worst week one QB” discussion without having to include Kizer. Sure he looked like a raw rookie, but he also showed some promise…
Dalton was the worst by far. Tolzien looked like shit, and in all likelihood is shit, but there are compensating factors for why his day was godawful. Indy’s defense is a disaster, whether due to injuries or just new, unbroken players, Indy has no weapons to speak of beyond Hilton, and their O-line has been terrible for several seasons. Dalton meanwhile had none of those excuses and still put up one of the worst QB performances in the history of the league. Moreover, Tolzien and his replacement are backups. Dalton’s a franchise quarterback who supposedly knows better.
The amazing part is that Hoyer isn’t even in the conversation. Brian Hoyer: Not The Worst QB By Actually Quite A Lot!
Worst QB on Sunday was Eli LMAO
I hope the Colts just sit Luck for the year. They are dangerously close to just ruining the guy’s career permanently, if not his life, due to injury. I still see them doing the stupid thing and play him earlier then they should because they “still have a shot at the playoff!” just to either fall short or get knocked out in the wild card and Luck gets hurt worse then before.
David Johnson’s injury was worse than all those bad QBs combined. Maybe this will be the second coming of CJ2k? Maybe???
Should’ve been an echo since no one was at the Rams game
I remember when he was Green Bay’s starting QB back in 2013. What a miserable year.
Yeah, Tolzien is pretty bad and this roster is pretty bad. I like Ballard and think he’s taking the team in the right direction but it’s going to take a while to undo the hole Grigson and our meth-addicted owner put us in. Honestly I’d rather they just keep Luck out for the season, he’s clearly more hurt than they let on (Irsay lying to us about a star-player’s health, hmmm where have I seen that before). No point in having him come back to a 1-7 or 0-8 team and risk injury in a lost season (I really doubt he comes by week 3 or 4), and a horrible finish would get Pagano the boot, something that needed to happen one of the last two offseasons.
Marlon Mack was a bit of a bright spot, otherwise that game went as poorly as I thought it would.
Tough call. Tolzien and Dalton were both lobbing wounded ducks all over the field, but edge goes to Tolzien. You can’t just lose 46-9 to the Rams. The game could’ve easily been fifty something to three had Tolzien stayed in during the fourth quarter. At least Dalton was playing a great defense. Tolzien was shit against a shit defense. Even worse for Tolzien, Brissett, who was with the team for about a week prior to the game, came in and immediately made more of a positive impact with one throw than Tolzien had made the entire game. He never should’ve been starting.
Dave, I don’t know if it’s a bad thing or a good thing but it seems you have triggered something unstable.
