The NFC North
A few weeks ago I made this:
The NFC North is like wacko world these days. The Bears lose Jay Cutler, have a terrible Defense, and then Josh McCown opens up the McOWN ZONE and suddenly the Bears are on top. The Packers lose Aaron Rodgers for the year, tie with Minnesota, have a terrible defense, trot out the likes of Scott Tolzein and Matt “around the league in 80 games” Flynn and they have managed second place and have a chance for the division. The Vikings are a pile of trash with an aging defense and no good option at QB. Yet they just blew out the Eagles. And AP wasn’t even playing. Not even Toby Gerhart was playing.
But the biggest WTF has been the Lions. When Rodgers and Cutler both went down and the Vikings being bad and the Lions in first place, it was like the football gods visited Detroit and said “Here. I’m sick of those cheese mongers in Green Bay. Chicago is overrated. Nobody wants to live in Minnesota. Here Detroit. You never have nice things. have the division. On us. Silver Platter. All you gotta do is win a few games”
And Detroit was like “Nah, I’m good”, then took a big steaming dump and started rolling around in it. They were basically handed the division and are now in third with 2 games left. How can a team with as much talent as the Lions have just crap the bed like this? I know, I know, “Lol lions, lol Detroit” but step back and look at them. They have the best WR in the game. They have a very competent though not elite QB in Stafford, who has stayed healthy. Their defensive line is absurd. Reggie Bush has been doing things. How did this happen?
Honestly they just look sloppy and undisciplined. I think it starts with Schwartz. You can’t be put in a better position to win and mess up this badly and keep your job. If Schwartz is employed by the end of the year, I’ll be surprised.
Edit: I posted this on Thursday, and this past weekend all 4 teams lost, including the Lions being eliminated from the playoffs. lol.
Well, here’s the first problem: Why in the hell is Stafford playing for Sexy Rexy?
Seriously, if any team from NFC North makes it to playoffs (someone has to win the division, right), they’ll be blown to smithereens by the ospreys. (noted that they win the NFC West) The Bears, Lions, or Packers have zero chance of making it out of the Wild Card Weekend alive in my opinion though.
Sexy Rexy Awareness Month.
They only celebrate it in Minnesota and Michigan at this time of the month.
Packers could make a dent in the NFC. So could Chicago if they put McCown back in.
please make an AFC West line up picture thing. The best division in the NFL deserves it
If he made one for the afc north, it would have to take place in the Cleveland Browns QB Cemetery with Campbell and Weeden as bumbling zombies (dead men walking, get it?). Heh. Go Browns.
so, the NFC West then?
Might as well do all the divisions now the wheels are in motion, Dave.
Everything you said is correct and I will now bash my head against the wall. Maybe next year will be the haha no.
That…that is the most accurate description of Detroit’s implosion I have read yet.
It’s just depressing. When you lose a game where your opponent never gets into the end zone, you don’t deserve to win. Even Megatron is screwing up – he makes either of those drops a catch, and Detroit probably won on MNF.
I know I’m biased considering Stafford was QB at UGA, but “undisciplined” nails his profile. And considering the QB is more or less the battlefield captain, at least to me it’s not surprising the Lions are where they are. CJ just needs to go somewhere else.
For the Packers, this year has really just shown that Rodgers is the entire team. All the weaknesses the fans have noticed over the past couple years, like the quickly eroding defense (thanks Dom), poor conditioning, bad tackling, and coaching concerns have been pushed to the forefront with the injury.
Gotta hand it to Eddie Lacy for being the bright spot, though. This kid’s going places.
I had to sneeze. I proceeded to scroll down. That was a good laugh.
Now to top it all off Green Bay and Chicago decided to lose after Detroit has fallen to pieces. It’s like nobody wants to win the NFC North.
